Report from the September 8-9 SCTA Executive Board Meeting
The Student CTA Executive Board met September 8-9, 2001 in Burlingame. The following actions were taken by the board:
In order to receive more local member input into SCTA, participants will break out by region at the Fall Leadership Conference in order to discuss local issues and provide feedback to SCTA officers. Workshops based on this idea will continue at both Regional Conferences (February) and the Representative Assembly (April).
The Student Ethnic Minority Affairs Committee (SEMAC) will be holding a free multicultural workshop at San Diego State on December 1, using CTA's Human Rights Department. This will support SEMACs goals of outreach, information and connection.
The following items were approved for sale to raise funds for the Ed Foreman and Ed Romeo Scholarships: plastic travel mugs, dry erase memo boards, license plate frames, magnet frames, t-shirts, candy, sweatshirts and pens.
The locations for the following conferences were approved: Northern Regional Conference, Feb 9, 2002 will be held at Sonoma State University; the Southern Regional Conference, Feb 23, 2002 will be held at CSU Channel Islands with the theme "2 Teach is 2 Change Lives 4-ever."
Every Executive Board member is to contact at least 3 local chapters to encourage them to get involved with their local communities through various outreach programs.
