SCTA Donates Toiletries to the Los Angeles Downtown Women’s Center

On February 1, 2003 the SCTA Executive Board presented over 500 toiletries to the Downtown Women's Center, all collected during CTA State Council meetings and SCTA conferences. The toiletries enable the women's center to provide shower kits for its visitors.

 

The Downtown Women's Center is dedicated to providing homeless and neighborhood women with a safe environment to rest, socialize and receive referral/benefit information. The center provides breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack for group participants. There are other activities that are available for the women of the center such as workshops, arts and crafts and music.

 

During the presentation of the toiletries, we received a tour of the center and spoke with the women. We will continue collecting toiletries and hope to make another donation soon.
