What is Project Pipeline?
Melissa Martin, SCTA Northern Regional Vice President, CSU Sacramento

Project Pipeline is an alternative credentialing program, in which students earn their credential while working with full pay and benefits in a public school.  While in the classroom, students are supported through weekly meetings with onsite mentor teachers as well as Project Pipeline supervisors.  Project Pipeline is funded and authorized by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) and is a valid way to complete the coursework required to become a teacher.  Project Pipeline offers a three year credential program for Mild to Moderate Special Education, as well as several two year single subject credential programs.  As of Fall 2004, Project Pipeline will no longer offer a multiple subject credential program.

If a student is interested in attending Project Pipeline, they would first need to pass all subject matter competency tests in their chosen area (i.e. CBEST and CSET) and have a B.A. degree.  It is important to carefully consider your needs and look into all of the options available before choosing a credential program that is right for you.  For more detailed information on Project Pipeline, visit their website at http://www.projectpipeline.org/ or call (916) 924-8633.
