Last year the California legislature enacted Senate Bill 1666 to respond to the enormous teacher shortage in California. Among other things, this law established six regional Teacher Recruitment Centers in the state. The purpose of these centers is to work with both prospective teachers and school districts to get qualified teachers into California's classrooms.
To accomplish that goal, these Teacher Recruitment Centers engage in many different activities, including:
- Working with colleges and universities to help place graduates,
- Helping districts strengthen their recruitment practices,
- Traveling to job fairs and conferences throughout California and the US,
- Matching individual applicants to actual openings in school districts.
The Teacher Recruitment Centers stand ready to help individual members and SCTA chapters. The Centers can help with your meetings, give advice about job hunting, and generally support your career goals. The six regional Teacher Recruitment Centers are:
