SCTA members descended on the Capitol building in Sacramento on Tuesday, May 6, 2003 to lobby legislators regarding issues that impact us.  The day started with with an informational meeting hosted by two of CTA's legislative advocates from the Governmental Relations Division -- Toni Trigueiro and Lori Easterling.  The GR Division made appointments on behalf of students with 17 members of education committees.  In addition, participants were able to observe committee meetings and were encouraged to visit legislators from their own districts.  Student CTA lobbyists addressed the following issues: cuts to community college budgets, student fee increases on CSU campuses, and the lack of due process rights for new teachers. 

 

 

SCTA lobbyists were also able to visit with Lieutenant Governor Cruz M. Bustamante.
