: Overview

The CTA Human Rights Department now has offices in Burlingame, Sacramento, Santa Fe Springs and Norco. The Human Rights Department serves as a resource for staff and members on issues related to human and civil rights. The department is also responsible for the annual Equity and Human Rights Conference; provides training programs for members on a variety of critical topics; administers CTA's Scholarships, Human Rights and Cesar E. Chavez Awards programs; serves as consultant to the Ethnic Minority Affairs Committee which is comprised of representatives of CTA's four ethnic minority caucuses; coordinates programs with Service Center and local Human Rights and Women's Issues Contacts on civil-rights issues; assists in promoting policies and practices to eliminate discrimination based on race, creed, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, or physical challenges; coordinates Student CTA programs; and promotes teacher recruitment through Club Ed: Teachers for Tomorrow programs.
