Position:  Associate Executive Director – Training, Information & Development
Location:  Burlingame (1705 Murchison Drive, Burlingame, CA 94010)
 
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the CTA Executive Director, the Associate Executive Director, Training, Information and Development Division, coordinates the Association's statewide information programs and is a liaison with agencies and organizations that impact public education.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervises the Manager, Communications Department; Manager, Human Rights Department; Manager, Instruction and Professional Development Department; Manager, Negotiations and Organizational Development Department and other program areas assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Serves as a member of the Association's executive management staff.
  • Prepares and generates long-range planning proposals to the Executive Director for discussion by and presentation to the Association's Executive Officers and Board of Directors.
  • Coordinates the development and service delivery of programs as assigned.
  • Advises the Executive Director on organization policies, issues, and procedures related to assigned program areas.
  • Implements major programs and assists in the coordination of relationships with statewide organizations in support of the Association's goals.
  • Promotes the Association's communications programs, refines its efforts in instruction and professional development, human rights, negotiations and organizational development.
  • Promotes CTA's commitment to equal opportunity for all students, teachers, and the public through its service delivery systems.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS Degree.  Advanced Degree preferred.
  • Broad understanding of the critical issues and problems facing the public schools and the education profession in California.
  • Experience with and broad understanding of professional teaching organization programs and services at local, state and national levels.
  • Experience with human and civil rights issues in the Association, in education, and in the general society.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of managing communications programs, media and public relations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of membership promotion plans and strategies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of negotiations and organizational development issues and strategies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of classroom teaching and instructional issues.
  • Demonstrated organizing, negotiating and coordinating skills necessary to successfully manage and complete complex group projects and activities.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in working with professional groups.
