With offices in Burlingame and Santa Fe Springs, the Legal Services Department advises and represents local CTA chapters on a variety of employment-related issues, including enforcement of collective bargaining laws before the Public Employment Relations Board, arbitrations, and enforcement of rights granted by the Education Code. The Department also provides for the defense of members in layoff proceedings, dismissals and disciplinary matters, and credential review proceedings. Other litigation involving significant or unique issues of special interest to chapters or members may be authorized by the Associate Executive Director/Chief Counsel, the Assistant Chief Counsel, the Executive Director, or the Advisory Panel on Legal Services and Board of Directors. Requests for legal services are made through the local CTA-NEA chapter and primary contact staff.
