The Governmental Relations Division, in Sacramento, is organized to have maximum teacher impact upon the political process. It is responsible for all lawsand funding affecting California public schools and members. Headed by an associate executive director, the division provides for legislative advocacy and coordination of political action programs to achieve Association goals; political education for teachers to promote membership involvement in assessment and support of political candidates and positions; consultation regarding retirement benefits for teachers; and giving testimony in Senate and Assembly hearings.
