CTA President Wayne Johnson prepares State Council for battle
For educators, the situation is bleak on both the national and state level, according to CTA President Wayne Johnson. Challenges include the national "No Child Left Behind" Act, the state's massive budget deficit, the fight to preserve Class Size Reduction, and an unprecedented number of layoff notices to teachers.
CTA State Council welcomed four of the five state Teachers of the Year, including Virginia Avila of the Grant Union High School District, who will go on to the national competition in Washington, D.C.
