Game correlates baseball's fundamentals with math skills

Baseball TIVY is a math strategy board game for students that applies the fundamentals of the game of baseball to the challenging subject of mathematics.

The game, which combines checkers and dice, is played on a board shaped like a baseball diamond complete with dugouts, a pitcher's mound and an outfield.

Players advance their dice (called tivots) from the dugout to the outfield, each spot in the outfield having a designated value. When the outfield spots are filled, players multiply, add and subtract the number on the dice with the corresponding number on the outfield spot. Scores are cross-checked for accuracy by the players and a winner is announced.

The game, which features 180 variations for grades 3-8, costs $29.95. The Teaching Kit, with video and transparencies, is $29.50.

For more information, contact Baseball TIVY, 10866 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 970, Los Angeles, CA 90024 or call (888) 946-8484 or (310) 475-2352.
