A child's version of the bard

The Children's Shakespeare is a simplified retelling of the master's work, including The Winter's Tale, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream and the Taming of the Shrew. Written by British children's author E. Nesbit, it features 11 plays, along with the author's personal inspiration for retelling the works.

The plays become accessible to young readers without losing their wit and emotion. Each play is retold in no more than 10 pages, allowing children the opportunity to discover for themselves the magic of Shakespeare.

The illustrated book, which costs $12.95, is available from Academy Chicago Publishers, 363 W. Erie St., Chicago, IL 60610. For more information, visit the Web site [www.academychicago.com].
