A visual approach to learning

Kidspiration is a software program for K-3 classroom teachers and curriculum specialists who want a visual learning tool appropriate for students. It can represent ideas through symbols and easy-to-grasp connecting elements. The program can be used by young learners to create stories, describe and expand their thoughts, and organize information.

There are two primary sections: picture view and writing view. Students can develop visual concepts and connect and expand their ideas into written expression.

In the picture view, simple maps, webs and other visual-learning diagrams are included. A visual library includes 1,200 symbols. SuperGrouper, an interactive drag-and-drop tool, allows students to group and rearrange thoughts and symbols.

The software CD costs $69; the activity book is $19.95. For more information, contact Inspiration Software, 7412 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway, Portland, OR 97225-2167; call (800) 877-4292; or visit the Web site [www.inspiration. com].
